Ariana Burris, Esq.

Ariana Burris is a Principal Attorney and Name Shareholder at Burris Law, where she leads the firm’s Wills, Trusts, and Estates practice. Known for her approachable manner, Ariana believes that developing the best solutions for clients starts with truly listening to their unique needs. She uses this client-centric approach and her considerable expertise to guide busy professionals and growing families in comprehensive strategies for protecting their assets and planning for the future.

Ariana graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and earned her Juris Doctorate from Chapman University Fowler School of Law. Her broad legal background includes diverse experience in state and federal litigation, including service in the Orange County Public Defender’s office and handling appeals in the federal judicial system. This extensive experience provides her with a comprehensive and sharp understanding of the legal system, which she puts to work daily for her clients.

Committed to her professional community, Ariana serves on the Mercy House Board of Directors and the Dean’s Counsel at the Chapman University Fowler School of Law. Outside of the office, she enjoys time with her husband, Jason Burris, their young daughter, and their enormous German Shepherd rescue.

Jason Burris, Esq.

Jason Burris is a principal attorney and named shareholder at Burris Law, where he heads the firm’s Real Estate and Business Law departments. Drawing on nearly two decades of legal experience, Jason is deeply committed to serving his clients and delivering results in complex transactions and litigation.

Jason’s legal journey began early with insurance and litigation management at a Fortune 100 company after he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an international relations emphasis from Chapman University. He later earned his Juris Doctorate from Chapman University Fowler School of Law, quickly establishing a broad background in state, district, and bankruptcy court litigation across California. His legal work has earned national attention, including the successful litigation of the high-profile Breslauer v. Sherrell case in San Diego.

Jason’s dedication to his clients and quality of work has garnered significant professional accolades. He received the Avvo Client’s Choice Award for real estate in 2016. In 2018 and 2019, he was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, placing him in the top 2.5% of attorneys in his category. Burris Law, under his leadership, has also been recognized as a Best Rated Business in Orange for real estate law in 2018 and 2019. Jason has been recognized as a Super Lawyer every year since 2020.

While proud of these distinctions, Jason’s primary focus remains the satisfaction of his clients, who know him as a tenacious and talented real estate and business attorney. His commitment to the legal community also extends beyond the firm, as he serves on the Chapman University Alumni Board of Directors, the Dean’s Counsel at Chapman University Fowler School of Law, and the Pacific Opera Project Board of Directors.

Together, this blend of legal expertise, commitment to client success, and dedication to the profession defines the high standards of Burris Law. Jason is married to Ariana Burris, and they are raising a young daughter.

Raissa Schurawel

Raissa Schurawel, our HR & Operations Manager, is a driving force behind the firm’s operational excellence and dedicated client service. Since joining the firm in 2018, Raissa has been instrumental in ensuring our attorneys and staff have the support needed to remain fully dedicated to our clients.

Her deep-seated passion for client service, honed through extensive experience at Nordstrom starting at age 16, underpins her view of the HR function as the “essential glue” that holds an organization together.

Raissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from California State University San Marcos and an HR Certificate from UC Irvine. As the firm continues its growth, her unwavering focus on day-to-day operations and exceptional organizational skills are vital to the firm’s success.

Michael Callon, Esq.

Michael joined Burris Law in 2024, bringing nearly two decades of broad legal and business experience. His unique background, which includes associate attorney roles at various firms, in-house counsel, solo practice, and holding a California Broker License, allows him to successfully navigate a breadth of legal issues and situations. A straightforward and empathetic advocate, Michael leverages his comprehensive experience to secure the results his clients deserve and the law commands.

He graduated from UCLA in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 2005. He has been a licensed attorney since November 2005.

Timothy Lam, Esq.

Timothy Lam is a seasoned litigator who joined Burris Law in 2019. An Orange County native and a 2010 graduate of Chapman University Fowler School of Law, Timothy brings extensive local knowledge and legal expertise to the firm’s litigation team.

Before law school, he earned a double major in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2006.

Timothy has extensive experience, having appeared in virtually every courthouse throughout Southern California, from San Diego to Santa Barbara and inland to Kern County. His primary practice areas include Business Litigation, Real Estate Disputes, and Labor and Employment Law.

Sarah Brewsaugh, Esq.

Sarah Brewsaugh is a second-generation estate planning attorney who joined Burris Law in 2019. Her comprehensive practice centers on estate planning, probate, and trust administration, with a particular focus on helping families, businesses, and new homeowners secure their long-term planning needs.

Sarah’s deep-rooted passion for law began in 1998, where she assisted families and business owners at her father’s law firm. After earning a double major in Diplomacy & World Affairs and Theater from Occidental College, she pursued her legal career, becoming a practicing attorney in 2009. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Chapman University Fowler School of Law, where she earned an Alternative Dispute Resolution and Trial Advocacy emphasis certificate. Her academic achievements include membership on the Mock Trial Competition Board and the distinction of earning a CALI Award for Legal Writing.

Committed to her community, Sarah has served as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the Santa Ana United Methodist Church. She is a member of the California State Bar and the Orange County Bar Association, and she is admitted to the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Kelly Woo

Kelly Woo is the Senior Probate Paralegal at Burris Law, joining the firm in 2023. With nearly 20 years of experience in the legal field, Kelly is an essential resource supporting the firm’s robust probate and estate planning practice. Her deep expertise spans several complex areas of probate, including estate planning and trust administration, probate estates, conservatorships, guardianships, and LPS conservatorships.

As an invaluable member of the probate team, Kelly ensures that clients receive the dedicated assistance and support they need, maintains meticulous case files, and helps keep the attorneys’ matters on track. Kelly’s career path began in a family law firm, and after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles, she ultimately discovered her passion for probate law.

Outside of the office, Kelly enjoys traveling and spending time with friends, often on trips to Disneyland.

Vanessa Carter

Vanessa Carter is a dedicated paralegal who plays a key role in supporting the firm’s real estate and business litigation practices. She is known for her exceptional organization, keen attention to detail, and approachable nature, which helps keep cases on track and ensures clients feel supported throughout the legal process.

Vanessa’s commitment to compassionate legal support is rooted in her prior experience, including internships at a women’s rehabilitation center and a domestic violence advocacy center, where she assisted victims during restraining order hearings at the Lamoreaux Justice Center. These experiences deepened her understanding of the importance of navigating the legal system with care.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from California State University, Fullerton, in 2023, and her Paralegal Certificate from the University of California, Irvine, in 2025. Vanessa joined the firm in 2022.

In her time outside of work, Vanessa enjoys cooking, exploring new coffee spots, and spending time with her Weimaraner, Ivy.

Nathaly Heredia

As Burris Law’s Operations Coordinator, Nathaly is the firm’s essential resource, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. Since joining in 2022, she has become the team’s go-to person, managing billing and providing crucial support across various functions. Her responsibilities include assisting with client intake, covering for colleagues, and coordinating firm operations. Driven by a genuine passion for continuous learning and service, Nathaly is dedicated to contributing to the firm’s success and ensuring every client receives the best possible experience.

Sydney Stotz

Sydney is the welcoming face and heart of the client intake process at Burris Law, dedicated to ensuring every new client feels heard, valued, and supported from the very first conversation.

Her journey with the firm began as an intern while completing her studies at the University of Southern California. After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Sydney was excited to continue her work with the firm full-time.

Since joining the firm in 2021, her passion for hospitality and genuine care for people have been invaluable. Sydney excels at guiding clients through the often overwhelming process of addressing legal matters, and her warm, personable approach ensures they feel confident and well-supported every step of the way.

As the Intake Coordinator at Burris Law, Mia is often the first point of contact for clients seeking legal counsel. She excels at creating a welcoming and comfortable experience, ensuring every client feels heard and valued from the initial call.

Since joining the firm in 2024, Mia’s friendly demeanor and genuine compassion have made her an integral part of the team.
